Japanese pro wrestling superstars to battle at Deanery Theatre, Wichelstowe
SWINDON - 13 | 1 | 24 -- Japanese professional wrestling superstars Shun Skywalker and Dragon Kid will clash at the 400+ seat Deanery Theatre in Wichelstowe, Swindon on the 13th of January.
The bout will headline Battle Kingdom 2024, a supershow promoted by Swindon based British Kingdom Pro Wrestling.
Shun Skywalker (27) of DragonGate (one of Japan's most prestigious promotions) held its top championship earlier this year* and is currently ranked #33 in the PWI 500 2023 list** of the best wrestlers on the planet.
Dragon Kid (47), also of DragonGate, is a living legend whose career has spanned over 30 years. From defeating WWE Hall of Famer Eddie Guerrero on WCW Nitro to receiving 'Match of the Year' and 'Best Flying Wrestler' accolades from the Wrestling Observer***, there is little he has not done in the sport of professional wrestling.
The match has been made possible by a new partnership between British Kingdom Pro Wrestling and DragonGate, which will see an exchange of stars, including Swindon stars wrestling on shows in Japan.
Battle Kingdom 2024 will also see a huge match to crown a new British Kingdom Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion as Swindon's own Saime Sahin battles Bristol's Chris Bronson.
Saime, a former two-time Heavyweight Champion and trainer at the promotion’s Swindon based wrestling school, is looking to secure the win in his hometown.
"I'm tired of Chris Bronson running his mouth, come Saturday the 13th of January at Battle Kingdom I'll defeat Bronson and put an end to his annoying and entitled attitude. I will be crowned the new British Kingdom Pro-Wrestling Heavyweight Champion in my hometown of Swindon," says Sahin.
"I'm going to beat Saime on his own turf and become your new champion. I may even rename it the 'Bristol Kingdom Pro Wrestling championship' and refuse to defend it in the sh*thole that is Swindon," says Bronson.
The card will also see Iranian born Tiger Ali take on 'The English Lion' Eddie Ryan. Ryan of NXT UK and a former 5 Star Real Wrestling Champion (and challenger for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship).
A British Kingdom Pro Wrestling loyalist, Junior Heavyweight Tiger Ali is looking to make a statement against his heavyweight opponent.
"The NXT crowds' reactions to Eddie allegedly made Paul 'Triple H' Levesque literally stand-up and take note. Well, we're not in NXT now, we're in British Kingdom Pro Wrestling. This is my house and Eddie is going to get the shock of his life come the 13th of January," says Ali.
This is British Kingdom Pro Wrestling's first supershow since rebranding from 4 Front Wrestling (4FW). The promotion's 20-year lineage continues under the name, including that of the championships.
"British Kingdom Pro Wrestling is an evolution of 4FW. People underestimate how respected British professional wrestling is. International talent wants to come and work here, and we want our company to attract the best wrestlers on the planet," says David Sharp, founder and promoter of British Kingdom Pro Wrestling.
"We believe the new brand will also help us attract the best talent in the world, and gain traction in new international markets where there is an appetite for up-and-coming British talent," Sharp adds.
