White Elephant Gift Exchange/Introduction to Altrusa

Altrusa is a worldwide volunteer non-profit organization, dedicated to making our local communities better through leadership, partnership, and service. Essentially, Altrusa is all about making a difference in our community. Following in the footsteps of great Altrusans like Mamie L. Bass and Eleanor Roosevelt, we volunteer our energies and expertise across a wide range of local needs, while having so much fun along the way.

In this, our inaugural year in Coeur d Alene, our service projects included a Pet Food Drive for the 3rd Avenue Marketplace Food Bank in Post Falls, a school supply drive for underserved students in Kootenai County School District, and providing volunteers to assist the Disabled Veterans and Salvation Army with their Christmas service projects and fund raisers. We enjoy the friendship, fun and satisfaction that comes from working together for the benefit of others.

Our membership is growing and we want to keep the momentum going to reach the minimum number of members to become chartered by Altrusa International and receive our own 501C status. We welcome new ideas and aim to provide enough flexibility so that our members can give their time in a way that works for them.
