Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church proudly presents the Pablo Cardenas Quartet in a special concert in honour of Black History Month!
Cuban virtuoso pianist Pablo Cardenas performs a special concert in celebration of Black History Month featuring longtime musical collaborators percussionist Nicolas Marquez, bassist Peter Dowse and drummer Kelby MacNayr.
In the special concert, Pablo Cardenas takes us on an incredible musical journey around the globe honouring the roots, history and influence of Afro Cuban music.
The African musical diaspora has influenced every musical culture it has encountered bringing with it rhythms, melodies and a vibrancy and depth all its own. We will explore influence of African roots in Afro Brazilian, Afro Peruvian, and Afro Cuban musical traditions, as well as some brand new cross-cultural inspirations from the musical genius of Pablo Cardenas.
