The Group meets on the fourth Thursday evening of every month

Are you single? Have you thought about the wide variety of things there are to do in our area? A glance at local events pages demonstrates that there are loads of walks, shows, dinners, football, live music, theatre. But it’s not always easy to find people who want to do the same things. A Sussex club has that covered. With over 300 members, you can be pretty certain of finding people with similar interests. And you’ll make new friends too. The club is called The Group. It’s a Sussex club for unattached men and women, aged 55+. 18 years since it was founded, It’s a club run by volunteers, with a low membership fee. Members pay just £20 a year Once you receive The Group diary by email, you can choose which events you would like to attend, and then let the event organizer know you are coming. The more events on the diary, the more exciting 2025 will be. And if you enjoy organizing, you will be very welcome.

How did it all start? Well, in 2006, talking with a friend about life as a single person in Sussex, Tricia Bentley agreed that there are plenty of things to do, but wondered how to get people together to enjoy those things. They co-founded The Group. Now they have monthly club nights in Worthing, Brighton, Burgess Hill, Lewes and Horsham. The first step may seem like a big one. But hundreds of people have taken that step. Maybe you will too. You’ll be very welcome.
