The Berkshires Mushroom Fest

WHAT: Informative discussions, tastings, and lots of other fun mushroom-related events!
Calling all mushroom enthusiasts, foragers, growers, chefs, and psychonauts! Join us at Sweetgrass Botanicals on Laurel Lake in Lee, MA, (www.shopsweetgrass.com) for the Berkshires Mushroom Fest! We will be featuring manuy amazing speakers, including foraging legend John Wheeler, founder of the Berkshire Mycological Society! This will be a fun and educational and community-building event, learning and exploring the vast world of mycology.
The day is facilitated by Bay Staters for Natural Medicine (https://www.baystatersnm.org/), a grassroots coalition working on legalizing plant medicine in MA, as well as teaching about foraging and homegrowing mushrooms (they will be bringing kits and explanation incoluation).
Liz Markey (@studio_lizu), a mushroom dye maker who will be teaching a full-length workshop this spring at Sweetgrass Botanicals, will explain which species make which colors, how to choose the correct mordants, and how the colors appear on natural fibers (like silk and wool).
Food will be provided by Pizza to the People (http://www.pizzatothepeople.net/): wood-fired, organic pizzas with lots of local and cultivated mushrooms! Vegan options too!
There will be a mushroom tasting, along with discussions of various species.
The event is FREE, but donations to Bay Staters are encouraged and there will be fun and unique items available for purchase!
