Ancestral shamanic journey
The world is embracing the old and indigenous ways in many sectors, from energy-smart architecture to agriculture and water and land use. Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) are increasingly being incorporated into the mainstream to develop new (or old!) adaptation strategies in the context of climate change. The indigenous have always survived in extreme climates because they surrender to Nature and do not attempt to control it. Shamanism is a way to connect to Nature and the Divine Source for inspiration and knowledge. Whatever your personal beliefs, the use of shamanic journeying is a vital tool in gaining clarity, self-knowledge, focus, calm, and true connection in your life. Whether you are new to this ancient art or just beginning, join us.
Your guide, author, climate change researcher, and wine writer Linda Johnson-Bell, hopes to share the wisdom of her Saami grandparents and ancestors. She recently completed an MLitt in Northern Studies. Her dissertation was entitled The South Sami Story: A Circumpolar Continuum. She also recently authored North European Paganism (Wooden Books, 2023) and has re-opened her Etsy shop, The Nordic Craft.
What to bring: a cushion and blanket, your own journal if you want, pens, a bathing suit and a towel. The workshop is informal, with no high ceremonies or formal rituals - so just be comfortable. While all food and drink are provided, please feel free to bring your meal and use the kitchen if you have a specific dietary need.
It is a one-day retreat; however, if you have come a long way, there is limited space in the sea-front, en-suite bedrooms (6) for an extra £100 per person. Or there is the option to pitch a tent in the garden overlooking the beach and to use the pool's outdoor loo and shower for an extra £50 per person. You can also use the main kitchen for a self-catered breakfast/coffee. Check-out is noon.
