Sunday in the Park with George
Friday, March 15, 2024, 2000 - 2230
In the days leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte," Georges Seurat is struggling to make meaningful art and maintain a relationship with his lover, Dot. A century later, Seurat's descendant- named George and also an artist - finds himself burnt out and in search of what artistic path to follow, but he finds the answer to his future in the past.
"Sunday in the Park with George" is written by James Lapine with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and orchestrations by Michael Starobin. It was originally Produced on Broadway by The Shubert Organization and Emanuel Azenberg by arrangement with Playwrights Horizon, Inc. New York City, which produced the original production of "Sunday in The Park With George" in 1983.
The Center is proud to present this show through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI) and directed by Paul Berg.
