Berkshire Garden Symposium Gets Growers into Gear
LENOX, MA-Area gardeners can hear the latest on landscaping with native plants, starting a vegetable garden, composting and even growing a living wall during Spring into Gardening, the 17th Berkshire Garden Symposium, on Saturday, April 6, at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School, 197 East Street. From 8 a.m. to noon attendees can also explore offerings of area garden-related vendors, speak with environmentalists and have an opportunity to win gift certificates, venue admission passes, tools and other products. Houseplants, garden books and puzzles will be on sale and complimentary refreshments offered.
Sponsored by the non-profit Western Massachusetts Master Gardener Association (WMMGA), the symposium supports education and services by trained certified volunteers through seminars, farmers' market appearances, soil testing, gardening hotlines and demonstration gardens.
Symposium speakers include Ron Kujawski, garden writer, on Starting a Vegetable Garden, Christine Ferrero, Cornell University Master Gardener, Ornamental Alternatives: Replacing Invasives with Beautiful Natives; Jodi Cahillane, Master Gardener, Compost Happens; and Shari Petrucci, Master Gardener, Living Walls.
Symposium presentations seating is limited. Pre-registration is required and closes April 5 online. The cost is $40. Visit wmmga.org for information.
