Soup's On! Fundraiser by Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore, An Empty Bowls-style event to raise awareness of food security in the CRD
Soroptimist International of Victoria Westshore (SIVW) is proud to announce their upcoming 'Soup's On!' event, an Empty Bowls-style gathering aimed at creating awareness of hunger and food waste in the CRD. The event will take place at Royal Bay Secondary Atrium on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 11 am to 3 pm. Tickets will be $40 for adults and $20 for children under 12, including all-you-can-eat soup, bread, and a handmade ceramic bowl of your choice to take home with you.
This unique fundraiser invites the community to come together and enjoy an unlimited soup prepared by some of Victoria's finest chefs, including chefs Jonathan Bull of Bull and Sons Delicatessen, Thomas Yesdresyski from the Sooke Shelter Society, and Sam Benedetto from the Royal Colwood Golf Club. These culinary experts will showcase their talents while contributing to SIVW's fundraising initiatives.
Suzanne Mandy, President of SIVW, emphasizes the importance of community support, "Many people across the Greater Victoria Region continue to struggle with food security during these tough economic times. Through the 'Soup's On!' event, we aim to unite the community to provide the much-needed
support and awareness of regional food security while raising money for our programs that support women and girls in our region."
In addition to the delightful culinary experience, attendees will have the opportunity to select a unique ceramic bowl crafted by local B.C. artisans to take home as a reminder of the collective effort to combat food insecurity and waste in our community. The event will also feature a silent auction, with all proceeds contributing to SIVW's general fundraising initiatives. A special thanks to The Food Share Network for their generous donation of rescued foods, ensuring a sustainable and impactful event.
