Ruth Stone Event
Saturday, June 29, 2024, 1400 - 1600
History of the 1800's farmhouse and the people who lived there will be on display. Ruth Stone ( Vermont Poet Laureate 2007-2011) and her family purchased the house in 1956 and for 55 years Ruth called Goshen home. The Goshen Historical Society will have displays at the Town Hall of prior owners while offering Wilcox ice cream with strawberries or strawberry shortcake. Once visitors are finished at the town hall they are invited to move on up the road to Hathaway Rd. to see the work in progress on the Ruth Stone House. Bianca Stone - (granddaughter of Ruth Stone and current Vt. Poet Laureate herself) and Bianca's husband, Ben Pease, will greet you to give you information on their project renovating the house and of the life of Ruth Stone, including her letterpress.in operation. Everyone of any age is welcome to visit Goshen, first the Town Hall and then the Ruth Stone House. There is no admission charge but 'free will donations' will be gladly accepted to go toward projects of the GVTHS.
