Reno Women's March
Saturday, October 19, 2024, 1030 - 1200
Reno had its first Reno Women’s March nearly 8 years ago, aligned with the National Woman's Warch: it was one of the largest single-day protests in U.S. history with millions marching, including 10,000 here in Reno. That first march contributed to increased voter turnout and record numbers of women running for and being elected to political office.
Women’s Marches have evolved to an ongoing movement, because we continue to see women’s rights threatened and stripped away, across gender equality, racial equality, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights.
These marches have always occurred in or around January, but Reno and national this year have moved to right before the election, to draw attention to the importance of this election. With everything at stake, this may be the most important Women’s March yet because we now know everything we stand to lose.
This year’s March is being held on October 19, the first day of early voting in Nevada, at 10:30AM at the Courthouse, marching to Believe Plaza. And rather than have speakers like part years, are encouraging marchers to continue to the Downtown Reno Library to turn in or cast their ballots.
We hope you’ll join, and bring out the women, men, people, and kiddos who want to support women.
