Point Hope Open House and RALMAX Group Job Fair

The annual Point Hope Maritime Open House and Ralmax Group Job Fair is a free, family-friendly event for people of all ages who are looking to have fun and experience Victoria's working harbour and the businesses and jobs that it supports. Locally owned, Point Hope is one of 11 industrial businesses within the Ralmax Group of Companies and each of these companies will be on hand to share their story and to invite attendees to get up close - and in some instances - climb up into the machines that build and maintain our city. www.ralmax.com
Tours of the shipyard will be given by the employees who work there. Demonstrations of machining tools, the largest on Vancouver Island, will be offered. For those curious about or interested in a career in the trades, General Managers of Ralmax Group companies will be on hand to explain what careers and jobs are available. A live music stage programmed by Stephanie Greaves will keep the crowds entertained and dancing. The Lekwungen Dancers will share their cultural performances with us at noon and a selection of local artists will be painting and exhibiting their works throughout the day. The Model Boat Society will be in attendance with their fleet of remote controlled vessels. In addition to a limited amount of free snacks, for those who are hungry, food trucks will be on-hand with meal items for purchase.
Key details:
There is no onsite vehicle parking. Guests are encouraged to walk or arrive by bike. Ralmax will be providing free bike concierge services through Capital Bikes, and Victoria Harbour Ferry, also a Ralmax Group company, will be offering free ferry shuttle service to and from the Open House from China Town/Swift Street dock and Selkirk Dock (more info. at www.victoriaharbourferry.com). As Point Hope Maritime is an active working shipyard, please wear flat, closed-toe shoes. No flip-flops. Dogs on leashes are welcome under the control and care of their owner with the understanding the shipyard is an active industrial site and caution should be applied. A dedicated, closed, 'baby and parent' tent will be provided for changing/feeding purposes if needed. Portable toilets dedicated to the event will be available.
