Pints for Plants
Saturday, December 9, 2023, 1200 - 1700
Honolulu Beerworks, a small O'ahu craft brewery specializing
in artisanal quality beers, will release their collaboration brew with two very important
organizations, the Hawai'i Plant Extinction Prevention Program (PEPP) and Lyon
Arboretum of University of Hawai'i.
Hāhā-Loha is a grape sour ale inspired by the conservation work for
endangered native Hawaiian plants and will be released to the public on Saturday Dec
9th at Honolulu Beerworks Pub in Kaka'ako from 12pm-5pm. This event is open to the public and there is no cost to attend. During that time the staff from PEPP and UH Lyon
will engage with the public by sharing information, showcasing photos of endangered
plants, providing numerous educational materials, and they will also have some fun
games for the keiki. There will be plants for sale from UH Lyon Arboretum. By
purchasing a plant, you will check off your Christmas gift list and also be donating to a great cause at the same time. Conservation artists will also be showcasing their
beautiful work that highlights endangered Hawaiian species.
Anyone 21 and older can be the first to taste the Haha-Loha grape sour ale on draught
and purchase 6-packs in cans to take home. The cans and draught are very limited and
proceeds from each purchase will help fund the effort to save these extremely
important native plants.
