North Shore Brain Injury returns face-to-face NSBI brain recovery support group meetings to Lions Gate Hospital the first Tuesday of every month starting in January.
North Shore Brain Injury, formerly operated by the Vancouver Brain Injury Association (VBIA) , returns to the North Shore as a new BC Society.
The first North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meeting is January 7, 2025 at Lions Gate Hospital. Join us for conversation and refreshments in a friendly safe environment.
PURPOSES
The purposes of the North Shore Brain Injury Society are:
A) to promote health by providing direct services to persons with acquired Brain Injury, and their caregivers, including access to related counseling, information, or support group programs.
B) to advance education by creating and/ or distributing educational materials and organizing and participating in seminars, counseling, and speaking engagements to the public on topics related to Brain Injury.
C) to undertake activities ancillary and incidental to the attainment of the above.
MISSION
North Shore Brain Injury Society mission is to provide North Shore Brain Injury survivors with recovery programs and to connect Brain Injury survivors, their families, and caregivers to resources in the community.
SERVICES
NS Brain Injury is here to support recovery with:
– Counseling
– Coaching
– Case management
– Help with Worksafe BC
– Assistance with Social Service
– Referrals to others resources
GOAL
Our goal is simple. We help residents of the North Shore with a brain injury recover to lead safe, healthy lives with full inclusion in the community.
NSBIS encourages local schools, social agencies, libraries, community groups, and volunteers to partner with us in order to help build a healthier, happier, British Columbia.
FOUNDER
Richard Wagar, the former Director of Brain Recovery at the Vancouver Brain Injury Association (VBIA) registered the North Shore Brain Injury Society under the BC Societies Act in September.
VBIA, which closed in 2022, formerly operated North Shore Brain Injury. North Shore Brain Injury Society will resume North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meetings on January 7, 2025. North Shore Brain Recovery Support Group meetings will continue on the first Tuesday of every month at Lions Gate Hospital.
