Newport Classical Presents: Eleni Katz and the Bassoon

Hailed for her virtuosity and vibrant musical spirit, bassoonist Eleni Katz has established herself as a prominent soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She is a winner of the 2022 Concert Artist Guild Competition, and will be joined by pianist Evren Ozel in his return to the Newport Classical stage. Together, they bring life to the classical bassoon repertoire exploring dance styles, rhythms, lyricism, and emotion in music by Debussy, Ravel, Saint-Saens, Coleridge-Taylor, and more. Newport Classical presents its nine-concert Chamber Series from September 2023 to June 2024 at its home venue, Newport Classical Recital Hall, bringing timeless music for today to Newport year round.

Newport Classical's 2023-2024 Chamber Series includes Young Concert Artists on Tour, featuring today's emerging star performers; internationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians violinist Chad Hoopes and pianist Anne-Marie McDermott; violinist William Hagen, hailed as a "brilliant virtuoso" by The Dallas Morning News, with pianist Orion Weiss; rising-star pianist Eric Lu, described by The Guardian as "a veritable poet of the keyboard;" the Galvin Cello Quartet, which burst onto the scene after capturing the Silver Medal at the 2021 Fischoff Competition; Eleni Katz and Evren Ozel in a program celebrating the many facets of the bassoon; the award-winning Balourdet Quartet, which recently won the Grand Prize at the 2021 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition; soprano Magdalena Kuzma, praised as a "standout" with "star quality" by Opera News; and powerhouse pianist Asiya Korepanova.
