New Directions: County and City Leaders Look Forward to 2024 in Event on 08 December 2023

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Montana State University will host a presentation, "New Directions: County and City Leaders Look Forward to 2024," during its monthly Friday Forum on Dec. 8, via Zoom. The event will take place from noon to 1:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

U.S. census data shows that Bozeman and Gallatin County are rapidly growing communities. Bozeman's deputy mayor, deputy mayor-elect and one county commissioner will discuss their vision for the community in 2024 and beyond. The speakers will be:

Terry Cunningham, who currently serves as the deputy mayor of Bozeman and will become mayor in January. He owns the marketing agency Cottonwood Enterprises Inc. and is executive director of Run Dog Run, a nonprofit that builds dog parks. He is a writer whose works have appeared in Montana Quarterly, CARVE, the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, The Tributary and Explore!

Joey Morrison, Bozeman's deputy mayor-elect who will take over the mayoral seat in 2026. Morrison is a Montana native with a background in social work and has served on Bozeman's Economic Vitality Board. He is a founding member of Bozeman Tenants United, which was formed in 2022.

Jennifer Boyer, one of three members of the Gallatin County Commission. She has a background in water resources, community planning and public land management. She has served on numerous boards and community initiatives, including HRDC Streamline, Gallatin Watershed, CASA, Seat at the Table and Montana Freshwater Partners.

OLLI at MSU Friday Forums occur monthly from September through May. Participants must register before 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8. For more information or to register visit montana.edu/olli/offerings/ or call 406-994-6550. Participants will receive an email from Zoom with a link and instructions.
