Please join us for the sixth annual season of Mental Filmness, a Chicago-based film festival about mental health!
This year we are screening a very special showcase of Chicagoland-based short films about mental health with many local filmmakers in attendance.
We kick off on Thursday evening, 10/10, World Mental Health Day. Thursday evening's programming will include:
Reflections (dir. Laura Lewis-Barr, 5 min.) - Seven stop motion characters tell stories of their mental health challenges and the physical actions they used to change their lives.
Would've, Could've, Should've (dir. Nick Sansone, 10 min.) - A young woman returns to her hometown in order to testify against the former teacher that groomed her. Inspired by true events.
The Color of Fire (dir. Seunghee Chang, 9 min.) - An abrupt turn of events pushes a couple to their limits, revealing the secrets around a traumatic accident and their relationship.
Hands (dir. Lara Haciosmanoglu, 16 min.) - Two childhood best friends navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship as they transition from girls to young women.
Compulsion (dir. Michael Palmer, 5 min.) - A woman suffering from Body Focused Repetitive Behavior Disorder tries to get through her day, haunted by her own self-image.
