The League of Women Voters South Tonka presents an educational opportunity to learn about the Minnesota court system. Speakers include:

-Susan Segal, Chief Judge of Chief Judge of the Minnesota Court of Appeals
-Kathryn Quaintance, Senior Judge of the Hennepin County District Court

Chief Judge Segal and Senior Judge Quaintance will speak about how our court system works, including:

-How the court system works in Minnesota, including the roles, responsibilities and functions of the various courts in Minnesota
-The role of judges in providing Minnesotans with a system of justice that provides equal access for the fair and timely resolution of cases and controversies
-Challenges facing the court system
-How the judicial system's checks and balances work
-What ethical standards the officers of the courts are held to
-Any "hot button" issues that the courts are facing that have been in the news
