Tuesday Night Jazz at the Church presents Kelby MacNayr's Blue Note Repertory All-Stars present the music of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers!

Drummer and band-leader Art Blakey was born in 1919 in Pittsburg and played with a who's who of jazz greats from the swing era to bebop and modern jazz until his death in 1990. He was at the top of his field for his entire career and his style embodied the drive, personality and spirit of jazz drumming.

Its musical intensity, thunder, subtlety and drive are a language all its own - and we are delighted, inspired and humbled to step into this sound world and the VERY BIG shoes of maestro Art Blakey and his Jazz Messengers! We have an incredible band of fiery virtuoso musicians - five of the Country's best players in this style - with Cuban trumpet great, Miguelito Valdes, saxophonist Roy Styffe, bassist Peter Dowse and pianist Tony Genge, it's an all-star affair! "
