About the Presenters
Andy Prest is the editor, former sports reporter and longtime humour/lifestyle columnist for the North Shore News in North Vancouver. When he’s not behind a keyboard you can typically find him coaching North Shore teams on various and assorted soccer and baseball fields across the Lower Mainland and beyond.
Daniel Wagner published his first book, "On the Clock: Behind the Scenes with the Vancouver Canucks at the NHL Draft," in 2024. He has been writing about the Vancouver Canucks for more than 15 years with his innovative blog, Pass it to Bulis. He has written for the Vancouver Sun, The Score, and the Vancouver Courier and is currently a member of the Professional Hockey Writers Association covering the Canucks for Glacier Media’s flagship site, Vancouver Is Awesome. He currently lives in Surrey, B.C., with his wife, three kids, and too many neglected musical instruments.
Ed Willes spent nearly four decades in sports journalism before retiring in 2020. He worked everywhere, from the Regina Leader-Post to the Winnipeg Sun and, most notably, the Province newspaper in Vancouver, where he was a regular columnist for more than twenty years. He is the author of several books, including Gretzky to Lemieux: The Story of the 1987 Canada Cup; End Zones and Border Wars: The Era of American Expansion in the CFL; The Rebel League: The Short and Unruly Life of the World Hockey Association; and most recently Never Boring: The Up and Down History of the Vancouver Canucks. Willes lives in Vancouver, BC.
About the Festival
The North Shore Writers Festival is presented in partnership by North Vancouver City Library, North Vancouver District Public Library, and West Vancouver Memorial Library.
The Festival would not be made possible without support from the Friends of the Library groups from all three North Shore Libraries, North Shore Writers’ Association, KidsBooks, and the North Shore News.
The Festival takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) , and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. The Coast Salish Peoples have long used oral storytelling to pass on and preserve their cultural teachings. This powerful tradition highlights the important role that stories play in our lives. We are grateful to host the North Shore Writers Festival on the lands of these Nations and honour the art of storytelling.
