Larry Dean : Dodger (Edfringe Preview / Work in Progress)
Larry's been spending a lot of time with his granny lately. He wants to tell you about it. Join the thrice Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated, two-time star of Live at the Apollo for a hilarious new show about identity, heroes and the benefits of being a dafty. 'A superb piece of stand-up... at the top of his game' ***** (Independent). 'Twinklingly charismatic... the gag rate is ridiculously high' ***** (Telegraph). 'A randy crab' ***** (Herald). As seen on Mock The Week, House Of Games, Fandan (Channel 4 comedy special) and Michael McIntyre's Big Show.
Kate Cheka: A Messiah Comes (Edfringe Preview / Work in Progress)
Funny Women Award winner 2023 Kate Cheka brings you her first hour work-in-progress where she unpacks her tendency toward savourism. Where does this messiah complex come from? That would've been a better title for the show but another (!!) comedian got there first so maybe it is also a bit about problematic predators in comedy and the burnout that comes trying to fix it and also my mother who has admitted to thinking she had and I quote ''birthed the messiah". A show for anyone who is anxious about the state of the world and wonders what to do about it. While the birth of a man who thinks he's god is not all that unusual behold here is a woman who thinks so too.
Other accolades include BBC New Comedy Award regional finalist 2022, Berlin New Stand-up Award finalist 2019, Funny Women Award semi-finalist 2021 and 2022 one-to-watch. Having performed across in eight countries across four continents Kate has been described as having 'stylish comedy delivered with a blend of joy and disdain'.
'She's a smart operator, but wears it lightly, mixing opinionated stand-up with frank and relatable "what was I thinking?"-type personal anecdotes, all delivered with poise' - Chortle 'A multi-talented comic, with plenty up her sleeve' - Zoe Paskett
MC Sion James
"Utterly charming ... Lovable giant' Time Out London
