Fete de la Musique in Saffron Walden

On Sunday 23rd June, Saffron Walden will come alive with the sound of musicians for its Fete de la Musique. Occurring every three years in Saffron Walden, the Fete is inspired by the event that originally started in Paris in which a huge variety of music was played throughout the city for everyone to enjoy. In line with this, the music is free for audiences, and will be accompanied by delicious food and drink from local establishments and food trucks throughout the town.

Starting at 12pm, there are 10 venues to meander between, including the Town Hall, Market Square, Almshouses, Bridge End Gardens, The Kings Arms, Jubilee Gardens, the grounds of the museum, Fairycroft House and The Railway Arms.

There really is something for everyone, with music ranging from choral, punk, rock, folk, chamber groups, wind bands, a steel band, a harpist and even morris men! The day will culminate with dancing the market square at 5.45pm.

The event is organised by the Saffron Walden Arts Trust and is supported by local volunteers who have kindly given their time to make the fete a day to remember. Come and soak in the atmosphere, enjoy some food and drink, and most importantly, enjoy a huge range of free music from fantastic local musicians!
