Fauquier Community Theatre presents the musical Tuck Everlasting May 3 - 19, 2024
Saturday, May 4, 2024, 1930 - 2200
Fauquier Community Theatre brings the beloved musical "Tuck Everlasting" to the FCT stage on Fridays and weekends May 3-19 at the Vint Hill Theater on the Green. Based on the best-selling children's classic by Natalie Babbitt the story begins around the village of Treegap, New Hampshire in 1893.
Eleven-year-old Winnie Foster lives with her mother Betsy Foster (played by Belén Rodas), and Nana (Lori Roddy). Winnie runs off one day to explore the "forbidden" woods behind her house and meets the mysterious Tuck family. Winnie befriends the family including the mother Mae Tuck (Sarah Bright), the father Angus Tuck (Paul Thornton), and brothers Miles Tuck (Robert DeBroeck) and Jesse Tuck (Joshua Starzyk). She soon discovers the Tuck's family remarkable secret! Then Winnie faces the difficult choice of returning to her rather ordinary life or continuing with the Tucks on their everlasting journey.
No story like this would be complete without a villain and a carnival barker like the Man in the Yellow Suit played by Warrenton resident Scott Pierce. He knows about the magical secret and is determined to capitalize on it. Winnie's disappearance from home is investigated by Constable Joe (Jamey Pellegrini) and his bumbling young deputy Hugo (Luke Tessier.)
The cast of 28 youth and adult actors in FCT's main stage production will delight audiences with song and dance numbers that bring the novel to life in a magical way! Thirteen-year-old Fauquier County resident Lucy Underwood was cast in the role of Winnie Foster and has been performing since the age of four, including roles at FCT in "James and the Giant Peach", and "Gift of the Magi – the Musical."
Joshua Starzyk (Jesse) is a graduating senior at Colgan High School and in his second production with FCT after "Once Upon a Mattress." Josh will be attending a prominent university in the fall, majoring in theater.
Sarah Bright (Mae) recently moved to Virginia and has theater credits in Chicago, Germany and the United Kingdom. Her trademark "triple threat" talent style of mastering acting, singing, and dancing was seen on the FCT stage last year. As Christine in "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" she received high acclaim in a review by DC Theater Arts.
Since its original publication – which was translated into 27 languages – "Tuck Everlasting" sold over 5 million copies. The book was adapted to a Broadway musical by Claudia Shear and Tim Federle, with musical score by Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen.
Fauquier Community Theatre's production team of "Tuck Everlasting" includes director Jack Tessier, assistant director Michael Pryor, vocal director Cate Murray, and choreographer Gabrielle Tessier. Claire Anderson is the costumer and Morgan Gallagher is the set designer. Samantha Wong and Ryan Balint are co-producers.
Opening night for FCT's production is May 3, and the show continues Fridays and weekends through May 19. Friday and Saturday performances take place at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Fauquier Community Theatre is located at 4225 Aiken Drive, Warrenton, Virginia.
