Dot Bardarson Artist Reception

An Artist's Reception will be held on November 17, from 5-7pm.

Cyrano's Art Gallery, 3800 Debarr, is open Thursdays and Fridays from noon-4pm and during all CTC performances.
Dot Bardarson is well known in Alaska, not only for her award-winning watercolors, but also as an art juror, artist in residence, muralist, set designer for amateur theater, and as past board member of Alaska State Council on the Arts.
Her art has been commissioned by the State of Alaska as well as privately. Her art has taken her through several stages of development from plein air (painting on location), to a style all her own, consisting of carefully painted white lines around recognizable shapes, to abstracts, to colorful pure design, and back to plein air.
She owned and operated the popular Bardarson Studio, a gallery in the Seward harbor where she represented 35 Alaskan artists for 20 years.
In 2011 Dot was named Alaska Artist of the year by TOSCA. In 2014 she was crowned "Queen of Arts" by the Seward Arts Council. 2017 she was chosen as one of TOSCA's Favorite American Artists. Dot's latest honor was the 2019 Alaska's Governor's Arts and Humanities Awards, where she received the award for Life Time Achievement in the Arts.
Art is her love. She just finished helping to paint four new murals for Seward. Currently, at 90, she is writing a book about five summers her family spent in a remote cannery in Southeast Alaska. It will probably be called "Boardwalk Footprints".
