Dia de los Muertos Event at ASU Prep South Phoenix Campus Offers Free Night of Family Fun and Food

For a school network that recognizes the essential role families play in students' success, there's nothing quite like honoring family traditions with a Dia de los Muertos celebration. ASU Preparatory Academy South Phoenix is inviting the public to join in an evening of family fun and entertainment from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Open to enrolled families and members of the surrounding community alike, the free celebration will feature a spread of authentic Mexican cuisine and thematic crafts for the kids, including sugar skulls and paper flowers awaiting young artists' creative flair. Live music will infuse lively energy into the evening, and other activities including face painting and prize giveaways will allow participants to take part in the festivities.

In addition, interested families will have the opportunity to tour ASU Prep South Phoenix, one of 12 schools within the ASU Preparatory Academy network. Current students will also have the chance to share traditional ofrendas honoring loved ones and other school projects with loved ones who take part in the celebration.

Bringing families together and nurturing a sense of community are just some of the ways ASU Prep creates a supportive environment where students can excel. During this free community event, families in the area who may be considering enrollment for the Spring 2024 semester have the opportunity to explore the school, meet staff, tour the building and experience some of the engaging educational activities that prepare students for success in college and beyond.

In addition, 100% of ASU Prep South Phoenix high school students have the opportunity to take Arizona State University courses for credit.
