Cold Spring Presbyterian Church Celebration Sunday
Sunday, June 30, 2024, 1100 - 1400
Join us! Everyone is welcome on Sunday, June 30th for a big day. We are officially unveiling the restored front of our historic 1880 sanctuary.
280 Cold Springs Church Road, Bristol, TN 37620
Our choir will have our Independence Day cantata. There will be a pot luck lunch after the service at our activity center across the road from the church. Please plan to be there to celebrate with us! Funding from Members and Friends of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution National Headquarters grant for historic preservation enabled us to bring the front of our church back to its original 1880 condition!
The Cold Spring Church was originally established in 1841, just down the hill from the current church. That site was the old Cold Spring School and is now our church Activity Center. When the original church building was turned over to Sullivan County for a school, the current church sanctuary was built just up the hill in 1880. As old buildings do, our church needed a bit of sprucing up after 143 years. We had an estimate to start, and as we got deeper, we found some of the "bones" of the church needed a lot of help. We said "Keep going". The final cost was about two and a half time the original estimate. With God's care, it is paid for. May it continue to serve God's wishes for the next 143 years!
Come help us celebrate!
If you wish to bring something for the covered dish meal, you may drop it off at the Activity Center prior, or after, the church service.
