Boothbay in Bloom Summer Fair Boothbay, Maine, July 13 2024
Saturday, July 13, 2024, 0900 - 1600
The Boothbay Region Garden Club invites you to join us on the Boothbay Common for Boothbay in Bloom; a fabulous summer fair celebrating what makes the Boothbay peninsula special.
Admission to the fair is FREE to all and will feature food, drink and sweet treats and numerous exhibits, presentations and activities including many for kids and families. The Garden Club will host several booths and will be joined by numerous local non-profit organizations including Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Barter's Island Bees, Bigelow Laboratory, the Sea and Science Center, the Boothbay Clean Water Initiative, the Boothbay Region Land Trust, the American Legion Auxiliary, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, the Community Center and Boothbay VETS.
Each of the non-profits - and the Garden Club - will be providing a unique activity for children. Nonprofits (and children's activities) include, to date: Boothbay Sea and Science Center: painting oyster shells; Bigelow: coloring your favorite phytoplankton; The Community Center: Origami box making and seed planting; American Legion Auxiliary: poppy seed planting, Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library - reading center and bubble machine; the Clean Water Initiative is making a watershed model to demonstrate what happens in our community when it rains; and Boothbay Region Land Trust (which canceled its family day, also scheduled for July 13, to be part of the Garden Club's event). BRGC's activity will be led by Bonnie Ginger, where kids will make pine cones with sunflower and almond butter instead of peanut butter.
The day will include local musicians, plein air painters and many unique items for sale including plants, gardening equipment and decor, bird feeders, bird houses, lawn ornaments, butterfly and dragonfly kites, gifts made from nature's bounty and "found" household treasures.
Among the treats that will be available are pulled chicken and pork, hot dogs, lemonade and popcorn!
Bring your friends and family for a glorious day of summer fun on the beautiful Boothbay Common. The festival will be held rain or shine on Saturday, July 13th from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Cash or check only!
The Summer Fair is one of the primary ways the Club raises funds for its projects - plantings, flower boxes, wreaths; and its scholarship program. Each year two graduating seniors are gifted with $3,000 for each of their four years of study in agricultural or environmental fields. The Garden Club also makes annual donations to Boothbay Sea and Science Center, Set For Success, and the YMCA's summer Knickerbocker Camp.
