1964 - 2024, the event marks the 60th anniversary of Adrian Bloom planting the Bressingham Giant Redwoods
10.30am - Gardens Open
Bressingham Gardens and Museum Open, the 17 acres of gardens are considered to be one of the best in the UK. Event begins in Adrian's Wood at 11.30.
11.30 am - Welcome talk
Introduction to the big trees and the official opening of the new Redwood display boards in Adrian's Wood section of the Gardens.
12pm - Book launch and Fun competition
WOW!!! is the title of Adrian's new book which will be available at the pop-up shop near Adrian's Wood.
Guess the height of the tallest Redwood in Adrian's Wood (Sequoiadendron giganteum).
At 4pm the most accurate guesser will receive a copy of Adrian's new book.
OUT to Lunch?
Why not have a light lunch at our new Pop-Up Cafe near Adrian's Wood?
1.30 - Book signing
Adrian Bloom and illustrator Shirley Hayes will be available to sign your copies of the WOW!!! book. Other books by Adrian will also be on sale, in particular his recent publication Foggy Bottom- A Garden To Share.
2pm - Measuring the BIG Trees, Sequoiadendron giganteum
Also held at the east end of Adrian's Wood. Tree surgeon Chris Hunter and his son will give a demonstration as to how to climb a Redwood as they measure the chosen tree (this should not be attempted by any of the public present!).
3pm - Revealing the Dawn Redwood, Metasequoia glyptostroboides
Chris and team and will cut and clear away lower branches on some other Redwoods, planted by the Bloom family in 2004 to reveal an enormous Dawn Cypress, Metasequoia glyptostroboides (this tree was planted by Adrian in 1965 and has almost become hidden behind other trees)
4pm - Book signing
Adrian Bloom and illustrator Shirley Hayes will be available to sign your copies of the WOW!!! book and announce the winner of the competition.
