Global Healing: About the Program
Global Healing's volunteer pediatric and maternal medical program helps to bridge the gap and meet the critical need for continuing medical education, direct patient care, and critically needed medical supplies and technology. Our medical volunteers teach current best practices in health care. Because of this training, the more than 80,000 families living in Roatan, Honduras are receiving life-saving and preventative care that is often challenging to receive in resource limited regions.
Currently, the program addresses three critical medical needs for the population on the island of Roatan:•Access to pediatric outpatient care through the Roatan Volunteer Pediatric Clinic.•Improving the standards of care within the Roatan Public Hospital which is the only public hospital on the island.•Increasing the rates of exclusive breastfeeding and maternal infant bonding as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). Lech Wierzynski is the charismatic and energetic multi-instrumentalist frontman of a popular international touring band with roots in the SF Bay Area. Lech will be joined by equally stellar musicians creating a magnificent and very familiar melodic sound.
