Author Jason De Leon "Uncovering the Stories of the U.S./Mexico Border"

Jason De Leon is the Executive Director of the Undocumented Migration Project, a UCLA Professor, a 2017 MacArthur Fellow, and Head Curator of Hostile Terrain 94. As an archeologist, he now focuses on modern border issues, using research to explore the impacts of U.S immigration policies. His books The Land of Open Graves (2015) and Soldiers and Kings (2024) examine the deadly effects of border enforcement and human smuggling. Soldiers and Kings is a finalist for the 2024 National Book Award in Nonfiction.
