From calling on God in the darkness of despair to turning to the stars for inspiration or hope, light has been a constant metaphor for composers and poets from the times of the Psalmist to the present day. Under the guidance of past masters Purcell and Brahms to living exponents of the choral art Eric Whitacre and Arvo Part, join us for a carefully curated exploration of how various concepts of light have inspired composers over the centuries, and continue to illuminate the human experience.
