Estivo Ensemble features three of the Victoria Symphony's outstanding musicians; Philip Manning - violin, Hanna Craig - cello and Kenji Fusé - viola, who are just coming off a record setting season with many sold out performances! This will be a treat for your auditory senses!

The Program
String Trio - Opus 9 No. 3 in C minor
by Ludwig Van Beethoven
Although he was known as a pianist, Beethoven wrote for strings with no trace of piano idiom but with a fluent command of the three instruments. Op. 9, described by Beethoven in his dedicatory letter to his patron, the Austrian Count Browne as “la meilleure de mes œuvres.” (the best of my works)
Intermission
Serenade for String Trio, Opus 10
by Ernö Dohnanyi
Dohnányi wrote his Serenade in 1904, the year Dvořák died. Dohnányi was 26, and already an international star pianist and a major figure at home in Hungary, where his influence was powerful.
