Artists Engaged: film screening
Wednesday, January 29, 2025, 1730 - 1900
EVFAC is pleased to host the live screening of ARTISTS ENGAGED: NEW MEXICO followed by a Q&A with the creators/producers, ACVilla and Thollem McDonas (La Villita) and guests. It is the third episode of the duo's long-term project chronicling the work artists throughout the U.S. are doing in response to the needs of their communities and the dynamics of the world.
For over a decade, ACVilla and Thollem McDonas have gathered documentation and experiences throughout the States, and are publishing monologues as well as video montages of murals around the country.
This segment focuses on New Mexico-based artists and organizations dedicated to their communities both near and far, including Little Globe (Santa Fe), Dylan Tenorio (Kewa artist), America Meredith (Cherokee Nation, editor of First American Art Magazine), Matthew Contos (SITE SF), Working Classroom (Abq), Moving Arts (Espanola), Scott Moore (Beautiful Midden, Taos), and more. Woven into the episode are murals ACVilla has gathered on their travels around the state, including Nani Chacon's creation at EVFAC.
As with this screening, all episodes are freely streamable. You can view the first two and read more about the duo and the project at www.artistsengaged.com.
Supported by the Fulcrum Fund and 516Arts (Abq), as well as individuals throughout the country.
